Kea's Learning Experience: Volcanoes!

Have you ever made volcanoes explode before? Well if not, let us tell you how we did our science experiments! You will create a chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar. You will also need food colouring, a small container for the top and dishwashing liquid.

Step one: Mould a composite volcano cone shape out of sand or materials of your choice. Make sure you have a cylinder shaped small container at the top for your ingredients.

Step two: Add 2 heaped tablespoons on baking soda.

Step three: Add a dash of red food colouring as red as lava!

Step four: Add a tablespoon of gooey dishwashing liquid.

Step five: Add 1 cup of vinegar and watch the chemical reaction occur!

Step six: Try it again! What happened? What would you change?

We did a mentos experiment afterwards and then did a venn diagram to compare the two.
